CMH Foundation Launches 9th Annual “Angels of Care” Campaign
~ The Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation is once again providing an opportunity for donors to make a fundamental and enduring contribution to health care at CMH ~

CAMPBELLFORD – The Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) is committed to providing patients with optimal care and the very best treatment. To do that, it is vitally important to keep current with new technology and updated equipment. The CMH Foundation has set an ambitious goal of raising $125,000 during the 9th Annual Angels of Care Campaign. This investment will enable the purchase of critical equipment for the CMH Laboratory to provide for accurate diagnoses for our patients leading to rapid treatment of infections and illnesses.
Co-Chief of Staff Dr. Celeste Collins and Lab Manager Moe Goulet were on hand outside of the hospital today to unveil a large banner marking the start of the annual fundraising campaign. New joint-fundraising program raises over $60,000 for Hospitals in Northumberland County
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – The inaugural Bike Up Northumberland! marked many new firsts for both Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation and Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation, including the introduction of a participation-based event, collaborative fundraising amongst the hospitals, and an activity that had representation from each of the seven municipalities. A joint venture between our County’s hospitals, the charity cycling ride set a strong example for healthy living and philanthropy.
In its first year, this event welcomed 140 participants and raised $61,268.30 for Northumberland County’s two hospitals.
Each Foundation will receive $30,634.15 to support the purchase of lifesaving medical equipment for their respective Hospital. Nearly $11,000 was raised by Dianne Knight, who was riding in memory of her daughter Sgt. Michelle Knight-Mendes. In addition to her personal fundraising efforts, the Knight Family made a $5,000 matching gift, doubling the impact of the funds raised by fellow riders.
The cycling route followed the scenic Waterfront Trail from Cobourg to Presqu'ile Park in Brighton with riders participating in varying return distances – 5km, 10km, 25km, 50km and 100km. Alumni Return for the CDHS Jazz Band's 20th Anniversary Celebration in Support of CMH
CAMPBELLFORD, ON – The award winning Campbellford District High School (CDHS) Jazz Band will welcome back many of its outstanding musical graduates for the bands 20th Anniversary Celebrations. The event, planned for Saturday, March 28th at the Stirling Festival Theatre is also the band’s annual fundraiser for the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation.
CDHS has been recognized as having some of Canada’s finest student jazz groups that have won almost every award around, including multiple national gold awards. Alumni returning for the 20th Anniversary Celebration Concert include international Opera Soprano Virginia Hatfield, Mike Archer of the 24th Street Wailers, Jazz Singer Chelsey Bennett, Musical Theatre Actress/Singer Samantha Marineau, Jazz Saxophonist Brian Murphy and many more.
Previous CDHS Jazz Band fundraising concerts have raised over $17,000 for the hospital and seen the band perform with Jeff Healey, the Downchild Blues Band, the 24th Street Wailers, Hilario Duran, and Denny Christianson.

CAMPBELLFORD, ON – The Campbellford Memorial Hospital and Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation would like to thank the community for its support of the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 8th Annual Angels of Care Campaign. This year’s Angels of Care Campaign raised $165,448 for the Surgical Services Campaign.
“These funds will help CMH invest in high priority medical equipment including arthroscopic instruments, high specialized lights, a glidescope and vital signs monitor for the Operating Rooms (O-R). We have added outpatient orthopaedic surgery which brings the convenience of having surgeries such as a knee and hip anthroscopy “closer to home” for patients in the Campbellford Memorial Hospital catchment area,” says Brad Hilker, President and CEO, Campbellford Memorial Hospital.
“Part of the reason we have the world-class, modern technology that we do is because of the commitment of the people across our entire Region who believe in our hospital,” he adds.
Last year, over 2,000 surgical procedures were performed in the hospital’s O-R and that number will grow as new services and efficiencies are implemented.

8th Annual “Angels of Care” Campaign Supports the CMH Surgical Services Area
CAMPBELLFORD – Donors, volunteers and hospital staff gathered at the Island Park Retirement Community today to launch the Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) Foundation's 8th annual Angels of Care Campaign.
Co-Chief of Staff Dr. Celeste Collins and Chief of Surgery Dr. Jerry Sue-Chue-Lam were also pleased to be on hand for the campaign launch with funds raised this year supporting the purchase of high priority medical equipment for the hospital's Surgical Program.
The annual campaign is the highlight of the CMH Foundation's fundraising calendar and includes a letter mailed to supporters and others. In the letter, Dr. Collins notes that "due to generous community support during last year's campaign CMH has made some amazing advancements, including the purchase of a new anesthetic machine which is making every operation we perform a better experience for patients."
In the letter Dr. Sue-Chue-Lam writes "donor support to the hospital has helped us purchase vital new equipment that is making our Operating Room more efficient. This means we can treat more patients and reduce stress for many others by lessening surgical wait times."
