Support the Effort 2021
When the COVID-19 outbreak began in 2020 it placed unprecedented demands on Canadian Hospitals, including Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH). Though the Canadian and Ontario governments provided additional funding for operations there was also an urgent need to make sure CMH had important medical tools to respond to the emerging needs related to the pandemic.
Last March, the CMH Foundation launched the Support the Effort Campaign to help fund the purchase of the equipment needed to successfully take on the current challenges and provide future health care for our community. The list of equipment our community helped purchase included Noco-spray room sterilizer units, infrared thermometers, patient ceiling lifts, stethoscopes, the new digital x-ray machine and even the installation of Free Public Wi-Fi Access at the Hospital.
The COVID-19 Pandemic is continuing and the pressures on the hospital have not waned. The hospital has updated its list of high-priority equipment needs and the CMH Foundation is now tasked with raising the funds to purchase these critical new tools.
The Foundation is launching the Support the Effort Campaign 2021 with the hope of raising funds for the purchase of additional medical tools, including stretchers and defibrillators for the Emergency Department and Med/Surg Unit, a hematology analyzer for the Laboratory, patient beds, clinical information and technology equipment and a new cardiac telemetry monitoring system.
Continuing to lead the charge at CMH from a medical perspective is Chief of Staff, Dr. Bruce Bain. His leadership through the pandemic has been instrumental and his ongoing words of encouragement to staff well received. Dr. Bain thanks the community for embracing last year’s Support the Effort Campaign and hopes it will continue in 2021.
“On behalf of the Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) patients and staff, I want to thank the donor community for its support of the hospital over the past year. It has been a very challenging time for everyone, but your donations have not only encouraged us, but they have put important medical tools into the hands of CMH staff that we have needed each and every day during the Pandemic. However, we are still in unprecedented times, which requires a joint effort on everyone’s part.
The CMH staff continues to work with unreserved determination to help those in our community that need our care whether related to COVID-19 or not. However, we continue to need your assistance.
Please consider a gift to the Support the Effort Campaign 2021 to fund the purchase of the Hospitals' highest priority equipment needs. My words for 2020 remain true today, “Together, we are stronger when we each do our part!”
As the Chief of Staff, I continue to be extremely proud of the CMH team’s professionalism, strength and passion for caring as we navigate these rough waters. This has not been an easy fight but we will persevere.”
